Norma Margaret Poppe Obituary
(Age 86)
Passed away December 5, 2011. She was born to Arthur and Sadie Faulkner on February 20, 1925 in Wadena, MN. She was raised with her two siblings, Donald and Evelyn. As a child Norma enjoyed music and school. She graduated from high school in Wadena. She then worked at a local newspaper where she met her husband Richard. They raised 11 children, six girls and five boys. She helped to raise 18 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Norma was very involved in her children and grandchildren's day to day activities, get togethers and vacations. They were the light of her life. She loved to share her stories, often at the kitchen table.
She was a longtime member of St. John's Lutheran Church where she was very involved with the Friendship Circle, Lutheran Women's Mission League and Spokane Lutheran School. She traveled to Europe, Hawaii, Alaska and spent many summers in Minnesota. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, religious music and playing the piano. Her hobbies included bowling, square dancing, cake decorating, homemade Christmas decorations and candles.
Norma was always there when needed, day and night. She loved people unconditionally and was truly an angel on earth. She had a truly graceful spirit and gentle nature. She lived her life with great purpose and courage. Norma was an inspiration to all who knew her and will live forever in our hearts. There is a great hole in the lives of the people she touched.
Including her grandchildren she is survived by her children Dennis Poppe (Brenda), Lynn Hoagland (George), Rita Eller, Sue Quraishi (Hameed), Nancy Aslam (Mohammad), Glen Poppe (Annette), Tom Poppe (Kim), L. Dean Poppe (Ann), Dianne Poppe, Donna Shanley and Mark Poppe. She was preceded in death by her husband of 37 years, Richard Poppe.
Visitation will be Thursday and Friday Noon to 5PM at Heritage and Funeral Service 10:30AM Saturday, December 10, 2011 at St. John's Lutheran Church, 5810 S. Meadowlane Rd. Spokane 99224 and memorial contributions may be made to the church.
