Norman Daniel Coulter Obituary (Age 103) Had a heavenly home going with his LORD and SAVIOR, JESUS CHRIST and was reunited with his wife, Mary Jean, December 31, 2014. He was a longtime Spokane resident, husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather with a servant�s heart for his family and GOD. Born in Menominee, MI, he and his mother, Lena Mae, moved to Spokane where he attended Bancroft Elementary School and graduated from North Central H.S. As an NC student, he helped build the KFID Radio Station antenna on top of the school and was an announcer at school games and music events. He continued his education at W.S.C. in Pullman, graduating in Electrical Engineering. He also met his wife, life-partner and best friend, Mary Jean, there and they were married for nearly 67 years. He was a member of W.S.C.�s Army R.O.T.C. After graduation, he served in the Army�s Engineer Corps for 5 years during World War II, attaining the rank of First Lieutenant. His 36 year work career with Washington Water Power (now Avista Utilities) began in the customer service dept. where he was promoted to manager. He was the first manager of the new Othello, WA district for his final 14 years with WWP. His most rewarding life achievement was being the co-founder of Spokane�s Audubon Park United Methodist Church, where he was a lay leader and finance committee chairman. He believed that the grace of GOD allowed him to lead a long and healthy life. He and his wife loved to dance, travel, attend Super Pop Symphonies, host Bible studies in their home and spend time at their Priest Lake home. They retired at Sans Souci West, the former location of Natatorium Park, where they courted and danced to the Big Bands. He was preceded in death by his wife Mary Jean (July 15, 2007). Survivors include son Jim; daughter Norma Jean; grandchildren Shannon, Wendy, Tara, Craig; and great-grandchildren Lauren, Danna, Kyla, Madeline, Ava and Austin. A Memorial Service will be held at 3:30 PM Thursday, January 29 at Audubon Park United Methodist Church, 3908 N. Driscoll Blvd. (Garland and Driscoll) and memorial contributions can be made to the church or Hospice of Spokane, P.O. Box 2215, Spokane, WA 99210.
