Norman E. "Norm" Beck

Norman E. "Norm" Beck Obituary Norman E. Beck, age 86, of Spokane, WA, died on August 20, 2011, after a brave battle with cancer, at home surrounded by his children. Norm was born on March 31, 1925, in Greenbluff, WA, the youngest of seven children. In 1946, he married the love of his life, Dorothy and together they raised six children. Dorothy preceded him in death in 1985. Norm served in the United States Navy, touring the South Pacific on the LST-454. He recently flew to Washington DC on the WWII Honor Flight Memorial Tour, a highlight in his last days. He worked for 35 years for Appleway Chevrolet as a body and fender repairman. Along with his wife, Dorothy, he operated the Burro Inn Saloon, at Diamond Lake, WA. Norm was recognized for his ability to fix or make nearly anything, his sense of humor, and for being a man of his word. Norm lived a simple life and embraced values that were passed on to a large and grateful family. He also loved to collect and trade antiques and was quick to share a story or joke. He is survived by his brother, Clarence Beck and his children Sandra Croonquist, David Beck, Kathie Roberts, Barry Beck, Linda Williams and Jennifer Dieter-Best and a large extended family. A time of visitation will be Thursday, August 25 from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm at Heritage Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held on Friday, August 26 beginning at 11:00 a.m. at Heritage Funeral Home followed by graveside services. The family requests donations to Hospice of Spokane in lieu of flowers.
