March 21, 1928 - May 04, 2017

Oscar Wright Kelly Obituary (Age 89) Our father and grandfather passed away May 4, 2017, in Spokane. As he did his entire life, he worked hard to recover from an accident three weeks prior to his death. Born March 21, 1928, in Bellingham, WA, to Donald and Lela Kelly, he spent his youth in the Seattle area. He married Ramona Pierce of Milton-Freewater, OR, on November 6, 1947, in Spokane beginning a 68 year journey. The couple lived in Metaline Falls, WA, for two years before settling in northwest Spokane for the next 67 years where they raised four children. He worked as a mechanic for Kaiser Aluminum-Mead for 30+ years excelling in advanced training. He enjoyed serving as a union representative for active and retired employees at Kaiser. At times he worked as a truck driver and in the explosives industry. After retirement he continued working for Washington Trust Bank, BNSF railroad, and several adult family homes. His hobbies centered around hunting, shooting, and automobiles. Oscar is survived by his children Eric (Kathleen) Kelly of Spokane, the parents of grandchildren Ian (Leigh) Kelly of Dallas, TX, and Lindsey Kelly of SeaTac, WA, Colleen Wheeler of Seattle, WA, Kurt (Beverley) Kelly of Port Orchard, WA, and Sean Kelly of Spokane. His was preceded in death by his spouse Ramona, his brother Donald of Seattle, and his parents. Oscar was a hard working provider for his family who enjoyed many friends. He will be missed but we rejoice in knowing he is at peace and comfortable following an accident which paralyzed him. Special thanks to the staff and friends at The Academy Assisted Living facility who provided wonderful care and friendship. His youngest child Sean was of special concern to Oscar. Donations may be made to Skilskin, a non-profit provider of employment services for disabled adults at 4004 E Boone, Spokane, WA, 99202, or email your contact information to info@skils-kin.org, or phone 509 326-6760.
