April 19, 1954 – November 24, 2025
Pamela Barr Short, born on April 19, 1954, in San Francisco, California, entered her rest on November 24, 2025, in Spokane, Washington. She was the daughter of Lucius Thomas Bingham and Elizabeth Emily Welt.
Pam earned an Associate of Arts Degree and worked in several fields throughout her life, including banking, tax preparation, and at the YMCA. She also spent significant time caring for her father: she left her home in Spokane to stay with him in San Francisco for about six months, later bringing him back to Spokane so she could continue caring for him until his passing.
For over 25 years, Pam was a faithful member of Trinity Baptist Church, now Redeeming Grace Church. She served in many areas of ministry, including Children’s Sunday School, Sunday School leadership and teaching, and Vacation Bible School drama, where she directed, acted, and brought creativity to every performance. Most recently, many children will remember her as “Nettie Zelma,” one of the “Bumblin' Bandits” in this summer’s VBS.
Music was one of Pam’s greatest joys. She sang for many years with the Sweet Adelines, a women’s singing organization in Spokane, and served in the TBC choir, eventually directing it for several years. She also organized and led children’s seasonal choirs, using her musical gifts to encourage young voices and support congregational worship.
Pam’s love for the arts extended beyond the church. She participated in community theater, including a Spokane Community College presentation of “The Importance of Being Earnest,” in which she performed with skill and enthusiasm—friends fondly recalled that she was very good.
At home, Pam adored her cats and typically had one adopted from a local shelter. She was also known for her lively sense of humor. A great lover of fun, she seized opportunities to tease and joke—especially with those she liked most.
Pam leaves behind a legacy of service, creativity, dedication, and joy. She loved her church deeply, and her church family loved her as well.
