Paul H. Schurman Obituary Paul passed away August 17, 2016. He was born on January 25, 1935, to Paul and Molly Schurman in Ellensburg, Washington. He was a long-time resident of Clarkston, Washington, where he graduated from Clarkston High School in 1953 and joined the Naval Reserves. Paul attended Washington State College for one year before joining his Dad and brother in their family-owned business, Schurman�s True Value Hardware where he worked until retirement. Paul married his high school sweetheart, Helen Estlund, in 1955. They were married for 60 years. Paul and Helen moved to Spokane in 1997 to be close to their children and grandchildren. Paul was an avid WSU sports fan. He and Helen attended all football and basketball games including several bowl games. Paul and his sister, Jane, traveled with the WSU basketball team to Australia in 2007. They also enjoyed cruising and went on 17 cruises with family and friends. Other favorite activities included hunting, fishing, golfing, and playing cards. Paul was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Clayton Schurman; and sister, Kathryn Lemm. He is survived by his wife, Helen; daughters Deby (Marty) Hanson and Cindy (Steve) Wenke; five grandchildren, Malory Hanson, Briana Wenke, Karissa Hanson, Scott Wenke, and Vanessa Hanson; and his sisters Phyllis Cole, Molly Beutler, and Jane Koller; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Dr. Wigert and his staff, the staff at Moran Vista, and Hospice of Spokane for their good care of our Dad. A Memorial Service to celebrate Paul�s life will be held at St. Mark�s Lutheran Church, 316 E 24th Ave, on Tuesday, August 23, at 2 p.m. Cougar attire is welcome! In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to the Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine Washington State University, the Alzheimer�s Association, or Hospice of Spokane.
