May 14, 1927 - June 23, 2016

Peggy (Kuksht) Nelson Obituary (Age 89) With great sadness we announce the passing of Peggy Nelson on June 23, 2016. Peggy was born May 14, 1927 to parents Edward and Dorothy Beck and joined her older sister Betty. While attending Rogers High School she lied about her age to get a workers permit. She got a part-time job at the Crescent Department Store to help her widowed mother. She worked until she met and married recently returned home Marine Corporal Lawrence (Larry) J. Kuksht. They had two daughters Linda and Marilyn. After 46 years of marriage, and a long illness, Larry died in 1991. With a strong background in retail sales, Peggy was recruited in 1964 to establish a bookstore at the newly created Spokane Community College. She was promoted to Director of Bookstores for Community Colleges of Spokane District managing stores at two campuses. She retired after 29 years and married John Nelson, a widower with four grown children. Peggy and John traveled extensively before John died in 2002. Peggy loved the Nelson family gatherings, playing cards, and flower gardening. She had a great sense of humor and a quick wit. We will miss her laughter.Peggy is survived by: daughter Linda Meissner, son-in-law Paul Meissner, daughter Marilyn Kuksht; granddaughters Heidi Romero, Heather Vaughn, Paula Meissner; stepchildren Tim Nelson, Andrea Widman, Eric Nelson, and Randy Nelson; 16 grand and great-grandchildren.Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, July 6th, 2016, 11 a.m. at Heritage Funeral Home with reception to follow.
