Philip Clifton Kincaid

Philip Clifton Kincaid Obituary Philip passed away on January 15, 2017 at the age of 99 in Spokane, WA. He was born December 20, 1917 to Virgil and Edna Kincaid in Spokane. He attended Sheridan and Willard Elementary School and North Central High School. He continued his education at the University of Idaho from 1936 to 1940 and Gonzaga University, after returning home from the war, from 1947 to 1950. He went into the Army on June 5, 1942. On August 22, 1942, while stationed in Colorado Springs, CO, he married his childhood sweetheart, Ellenore Newton. He was then sent overseas to the European Theater and fought in Belgium and France. He was wounded on the first day of the Battle of the Bulge, was evacuated to England and later sent back to the states on the Queen Mary. He felt extremely lucky that he was able to recuperate at the VA Hospital in Spokane, WA. Phil was discharged as a Captain from active duty on March 11, 1945. He then joined the Army Reserves until he retired as a Major in 1966. Phil spent his professional life as an auto mechanic. He worked for many years at Barton Oldsmobile and near the end of his career he opened his own shop, with a partner, Lee Hodin in February 1975. In 1976 Lee moved on and Phils sons, Bruce and Jeff joined him. The business then became Kincaid Automotive. He was an active member of Opportunity Christian Church for more than 60 years. Phil served in many capacities at the church. They varied from, greeting people, to being a church elder and teaching Adult Sunday School classes. His church family was an important part of his life. He is survived by his children Jeff Kincaid, Elizabeth Becky Keck, and Tim Kincaid, all living in Spokane; his grandchildren Aaron Keck and Sarah Keck; and 6 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife Ellenore Kincaid and his son Bruce Kincaid. Philip was an extraordinary man that lived what one might consider an ordinary life. He was a wonderful role model and a loving father. Phil was a gentleman in every sense of the word. He was loved by many and will be missed by many. There will be a Memorial Service for Phil on Friday, February 10, 2017 at 1 pm at Opportunity Christian Church, 708 N.
