October 26, 1926 - August 04, 2013

Phyllis E. Kelsch Obituary It is with sadness that we report the death of our wife, mother and grandmother, Phyllis E. Kelsch, Sunday, August 4th, but we remember her fondly and cherish the time we were able to enjoy her kind and attentive company. Phyllis Kelsch was born in Bertha, Minn., in 1926, the only child of Iva and Paul Lund. She grew up in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area. A Bachelor Degree from the University of Minnesota prepared her for a career as a medical technician. Her first position was at the Northern Pacific Hospital in Missoula, Mont., where she met her future husband, Bill. They celebrated their 63rd anniversary this year. They moved from Grand Forks to the Spokane area, where they raised their four children, lived in the same home for 49 years, and dedicated themselves to their family and the community of Spokane. Phyllis was a generous supporter of various Spokane institutions including Central United Methodist Church, where she sang in the choir, formed a trio with two dear friends, sometimes played the piano, and sat on leadership committees. For many years she did volunteer work for the annual Rosauers Pro-Am Golf tournament, and she was a generous contributor to the Spokane Symphony, volunteering in its ticket office. She and Bill have enjoyed traveling the US and the world, often with friends or family. They always took a cribbage board, played frequently at home and they were always ready for a game of bridge. Phyllis is survived by her husband, Bill, her four children Barbara Fortunate (Norman), Patty Bartholomew (Douglas), Lt. Col. (ret.) Steven Kelsch (Col. Sue Fraser), and Judy Kelsch; eight grandchildren; and was expecting her first great-grandchild any day now. A memorial service will be held at Central United Methodist Church on Friday, August 9, at 1 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Phyllis name to Central United Methodist Church.
