Pierre Rossini Obituary (Age 92) Pierre Rossini died pain free and peaceful on September 22nd at Sacred Heart Medical Center. He was the 2nd child born to Michael and Marie Louise Rossini (Bernuchot) in Corning, New York, and greeted the world weighing 14 lbs (!) In childhood he served as an altar boy and received an education from the nuns. He had fond memories of travel to France at a young age with his mother and sister. Experiences during the Depression made him yearn for more food, clothes, and shoes. At 19, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps, trained on the East Coast, and participated in the Occupation of North China before WWII ended. He was honorably discharged at the rank of Staff Sergeant with a weapons qualification of Pistol Expert and a Good Conduct Medal. He had an everlasting love for the Marine Corps and aircraft. After the war, he worked for several companies, including Corning Glass Works, Westinghouse, and Lockheed Missiles and Space Co. He was a certified Professional Industrial Engineer in the state of California and a Senior Member of the American Institute of Industrial Engineers. He met Pat McIntyre Winegar at Lockheeds Sunnyvale, CA facility in 1964. They married in 1965, and a political appointment brought them to Spokane in 1971, where he was a real estate broker and salesman for 30 years before retiring at the age of 80. Pierre lived a full life he loved. He woke up happy every day. He was intelligent, well read, and a conversationalist with a sense of humor and lots to say. You knew when he was in the room. His passions were his country, his wife, his friends, home, good food, dogs, golf, and other sports. Fall in this four season area of trees and lakes was his favorite time of the year with its beauty, hunting, birthdays and the holidays arriving soon. It resembles the region around Corning, NY where he was raised. Surviving Pierre are wife Pat, sister Micheline McKinney, daughters Lee Rossini (David) and Lisa Cabral Bertoline (Al), son Peter Rossini (Annetta), step-son Tom Winegar (Eve), Godson Ryan Hogberg, foster son Tim Schreck (Samantha), and Moe Oestreich (Marlys), a best friend for 54 years. He is also survived by in-laws Linda and Bob Ott, Don McIntyre, two nieces and nephews and their families and Gus, his beloved Weimaraner. Pierre was preceded in death by his parents, son Michael, infant daughter Marie Louise and grandson Gary Cabral. A heart full of thanks to the staff, nurses, and doctors in the various facilities who cared for Pierre, and to those dear friends and family who visited him often and also provided loving support for Pat. A Funeral Mass will be held at The Cathedral of Our Lady of Lourdes on Saturday, October 8, 2016 at 9:30am. Inurnment will take place at Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to Catholic Charities of Spokane or to a charity of personal choice. To plant a beautiful memorial tree in memory of Pierre, please visit our Tree Store.
