R. Edward MacDonald Obituary
Born and raised in Plainfield, NJ. Ed was preceded in death by his parents Harold and Mary; son James Edward; sister Gladys and mother-in-law Edith Norlander. He is survived by the love of his life, wife Carol Jeanne (Norlander) MacDonald at their home in Mead; daughters Mary Jean (Richard) Bryant and Nancy Lindberg; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sister Carol (Charles) Knehr; brothers George, Elmer and Robert MacDonald. Ed's biggest pleasure was being Camp Host at Two Rivers Resort, Marina and Casino. He made many life-long friends from there and was always impressed with the respect given to him. Wherever he was his presence could not be ignored, his laugh, his teasing and his generosity will be missed by all who were lucky enough to know him. His accomplishments include: Whitworth Water Dist. serving as chairman and commissioner for 42 years; northwest commissioner for Boy Scouts; past commissioner and volunteer fireman for 25 years in Fire District 9; Past president with WA State Water/Wastewater Assoc., many year volunteer with the Friendly Sons of St. Patrick and served as Grand Marshal of their 15th annual parade and as a past president; stationed at Fairchild AFB 1952-56; in 1996 received an award from the Red Cross for helping victims of winter ice storm. He worked for Darigold; Washington State Patrol; owned a Chevron station on Newport Highway and finally retired from Washington State Highway Dept. Ed was a lifetime member of the Eagles Aerie #2, Moose Lodge, Masonic Lodge, VFW Post 51 and DAV. Memorial Service 2:00PM Saturday June 19, 2010 at Heritage Chapel with a reception to follow at Eagles Lodge Aerie #2 on east Francis. Memorial contributions may be made to the MS Society, 818 E.
