October 18, 1920 - April 02, 2017

Ramona Elizabeth Salvatore Obituary A Grace and Faith-filled Lady Ramona Elizabeth Salvatore was born October 18, 1920 to Franklin Webster and Charlotte (Sneddon) West in Glens Falls, NY. When she was only 9 years old, her father died so she grew under the care and influence of her widowed mother and wizened Irish grandma. As an only child with limited financial means, she grew with wholesomeness, beauty, and a joie-de vivre. On September 21, 1940, she married the love of her life, Larry Salvatore, a stunning Italian. Larry preceded her in death in 1982. Ramona is survived by her three daughters Laraine (Jim Stephan), Lorelei (Roy Harris), and Linda (Jurgen Koch). The family remained on the East Coast until the mid 60s when Larry, as one of the CEOs for Hygrade Meat Packing Plant, was transferred to Spokane, WA. Here in Spokane, they settled on the South Hill and later bought property on the Spokane River (Long Lake). Larry and Ramona, as dedicated Catholics, met with other couples of the same faith who desired to see a Catholic Parish become a reality in the Tum Tum/Suncrest area. In the early 1970s, Bishop Topel of Spokane, encouraged the couples to join forces with the local Protestants to build a church together and share the worship space. For years, the Protestant community held early Sunday morning services and the Catholics had a mass later in the day. Shortly after this, Larry and Ramona had a life changing experience with the Holy Spirit. It was a powerful transition producing a strong desire in them both to sell their assets and build the House of the Lord on Scoop Mountain above Scotts Valley. By the latter 70s the House became a center for prayer, healing, retreats and a dynamic prayer meeting. Ramonas gift of hospitality, fine Italian cooking, and warm affection along with Larrys gift of gentle wisdom, inspiring teaching, love, and a Christ-like acceptance of others kept the retreat house buzzing with activity and people receiving many spiritual blessings. They were a significant influence for the Charismatic Renewal of the Catholic Church in the Spokane Diocese. After Larrys death in 1982, Ramona continued to keep things going, while it was difficult. Lorelei and her husband stepped in to relieve Ramona. Ramona moved with Larrys mother, her own unconditional love and her fabulous cooking to Suncrest. She continued reaching out in love to all who sought her out. She has been called Mother Love and lived up to that quality for the rest of her life. She often traveled to visit her daughter Linda and family in Virginia and there too she captured the hearts of family and friends. Ramona is survived by her three daughters, nine grandchildren, and numerous great and great-great grandchildren. Shes home with the Lord, her loving Larry and shes dancing with him in great joy. Visitation will be held on Friday, April 7, 2017, from 10 am to 5 pm at Heritage. The Funeral Mass will be held Sat. April 8, 2017 at 9 am at Our Lady of the Lake Parish, located at 6122 Highway 291, Nine Mile Falls, WA. A reception will be held immediately following the mass in the Parish Hall.
