March 08, 1924 - February 18, 2017

Ray Giles Bohn Obituary BOHN, Ray Giles (Age 92) I have lost my dear and precious husband, Ray Giles Bohn. I was privileged to be his wife for 36 years. He has been my heart, my best friend, my partner, my everything. I will love him for eternity-Candee Bohn. Ray was a husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend to many and will be missed beyond words. Ray passed away on February 18, 2017 at his home in Spokane with family by his side. Ray was born March 8, 1924 in Beaver City, Utah, second son of Murray Erastus Bohn and Louisa Simi Giles. He was born and raised a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Ray endured a long journey with Parkinsons Disease and more recently with bile duct cancer. Ray was a gentleman always, never complained, and was dedicated to his wife, family, and friends. He was grateful for having lived a long and interesting life. Ray graduated high school in Beaver in 1942, enlisted in the US Army Air Corp, attended Utah State Agricultural and Missouri State Teachers College as part of his preparation to become a B24 Pilot. Ray flew his crew to Europe in November 1944, completed 24 missions. They went down three times while flying out of Southern Italy. At wars end, all ten men in Rays crew came home safely. Ray married his high school sweetheart Della White in 1943 and had three children. In 1961 Ray married Lexie Dickerson and had three children. He married Cassandra Gibson Henderson in 1980 and they were married for 36 years. Ray moved his family to Spokane in 1947 and raised his two families at Liberty Lake. Ray had his own plane after moving to Spokane and enjoyed flying his family on adventures. Ray had an interesting career. He started in insurance sales, eventually owning Ray Bohn Insurance with 3 agencies in Spokane and Seattle. He established a stock brokerage firm, Bohn & Williams, with partner Don Williams. Ray was a partner in Real Estate Equities which owned commercial buildings in Spokane, Portland and Seattle. He was a partner in ownership of the Davenport Hotel in the early 70s. He was involved in several mining projects in the Northwest. Ray worked tirelessly as a fundraiser for projects he believed in. Ray was passionate about any venture he was involved in, whether it was family, business or pleasure. His family likes to think of him as having been an Entrepreneur in The Field of Dreams. Rays true love was nature, being outdoors, hiking, pursuing his enthusiasm for gold & silver mining. One of his granddaughters said he always seemed larger than life. Ray was always the first one to say lets go and have an adventure. Ray is survived by his wife, Cassandra Bohn; six children: Richard R. Bohn, Mia M. Bohn, Rebecca Bohn (spouse Barry Willis), Ray G. Bohn Jr. (spouse Lorri), James A. Bohn (spouse Michelle Ota), Briana L. Bohn (spouse Stuart Caldwell); 10 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents; brother Murray L. (Buck) Bohn; first wife Della, and beloved nephew Robert L. Bohn. The family would like to extend love and gratitude to Rays caregiver, Elvira Sigua Moll, who made him laugh, fed him well and took such loving care of him. The family also wishes to thank Hospice of Spokane whose wonderful care allowed Ray to stay in his home. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, March 25, 1:00 pm at The McGinnity Room, 116 W. Pacific Avenue, Spokane, followed by a reception.
