Raymond Henry Thiemens Obituary (Age 94) Born to Reinhard and Emma (Weyen) Thiemens on November 23, 1921, in Reardan, Washington, he died peacefully on October 3, 2016. He was raised in Espanola, WA and graduated from Reardan High School in 1938. He proudly served with the Army Railroad Battalion in WW II. After the war he married Alma Hoefner in April of 1946, and worked as a mechanic for International Harvester in San Francisco, CA. They moved back Washington and lived in Spokane, Pullman, Spokane, Moses Lake and finally settled in Omak, WA, after buying into an International Harvester dealership in Okanogan. He joined the Masonic Lodge and served a term as President of the Okanogan Chamber of Commerce. He and Alma joined the local Presbyterian Church wherever they lived, and spent many happy evenings square and round dancing. After retiring in 1987, he and Alma enjoyed traveling around the US and wintering in Arizona. Ray was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by Alma, his wife of 70 years; sons, Bruce (Patsy), Doug (Jane), and David (Linda); daughter, Carol; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 8, at 4 PM at Heritage Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Spokane.
