Renoldis E. (Moreland) Lewis Obituary J.O.Y. Jesus Others Yourself was the motto of Renoldis? life. She lived her life as a quiet example showing all that she practiced what she preached. Renoldis (Moreland) Lewis went to be with Her Lord January 13, 2010. Renoldis was born May 24, 1918 in Waterville, WA to Ollie and Melvin Moreland. She was the fifth of the eight Moreland children. She graduated from John Rogers High School in 1936. Renoldis married Carl W. Lewis on December 24, 1936. She was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and grandmother. The team of Renoldis and Carl Lewis had a spiritual impact for Jesus on three generations of children in the Columbia River Conference of the Free Methodist Church. She served on many boards and committees in the Conference. In addition upon Carl?s retirement from the Great Northern Railroad they became group home parents to many trouble boys. They even become foster parents for a few of the boys. She was a woman with discernment and vision maybe even a little ahead of her time. She was an advocate of natural food and vitamins, temperance, and conserving Christian values in government and life as early as the 1960?s. Renoldis lived her last several years at Lilac Plaza in Spokane. She loved living there and had many friends. She conducted women?s Bible studies even after she turned 90 years old. She was an avid Scrabble player and played regularly with friends. She continued to learn new things such as the computer so she could email her scattered family and friends. Renoldis had a special impact on the lives of her nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews as well as her grandchildren. She was known as a prayer warrior and prayed daily for each one. Renoldis was preceded in death by her husband (58 years) Carl Lewis and her grandson Christopher Lewis. She is survived by her children and their spouses: Phil (Gwen) Lewis, Paul (Renee) Lewis and Carol (Bill) Steele. Also her six grandchildren; Julie Foster, Holly (Cory) Claymon, Carl (Mary) Lewis, Brandon Larson, Wendy (Robert) Burbatt and Doug (Kim) Larson, her eleven great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter. In addition she is survived by many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews and a whole multitude of close friends. A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 27, 2010 at 2pm at the First Free Methodist Church, 1725 W. Courtland, Spokane, WA 99205.
