Richard E. "Dick" Saty

Richard E. "Dick" Saty Obituary (Age 86) Dick was born on August 1, 1925 in Spokane at Sacred Heart Hospital to Tomas and Jenette Saty. He passed away on July 17, 2012. Dick Saty is a hometown boy who was born and raised in Spokane. He graduated from Lewis & Clark High School and continued brightly toward his future at Gonzaga University, where he attended one year. Our country then beckoned him during WWII. He joined the Air Force and set off to fight the Nazis in Europe. He continued his military career after the war as an Army Engineer. After his career in the Army Reserves, he retired as a full Colonel. When Dick returned home, he went back to focus on his education and attended Washington State University where he studied Civil Engineering. During this time he married his sweetheart Artha and they were married for over 64 years. After receiving his degree he worked for the United States Geological Survey (USGS) for several years. Richard contributed highly to our area when he started working for the city of Spokane as a Civil Engineer. He helped design some of our area water towers, one at Sacred Heart Hospital and one at Shadle Park and Davenport. Dick loved to travel. He was a member of the Lincoln Heights Community Church for about 50 years. He was an Eagle Scout and a member of the Navy League and Reserve Officers Association. He also worked at the retiree's office at Fairchild and the Friendship Travel Club of Spokane. Dick enjoyed great friendships at Lincoln Heights. Dick is survived by his wife Artha Saty; sons: Patrick E. Saty, Douglas A. Saty, Jeffrey T. Saty, and Gregory M. Saty; grandchildren: Michael R. Saty, Brandon M. Saty, Nicholas G. Saty, Jason A. Saty, Jeremy Saty, Derrik Saty, Tyler Saty, David Watson, Brian Watson, and Wendy Buehler; great-grandchildren: Dominic Saty, Destinie Saty, Ayden Saty, Andrew Saty, Ryan Saty, Madison Saty, Avery Saty and Jacob Buehler; he is also survived by his younger brother Bob Saty and his wife Molly. He was preceded in death by his parents Tom and Jennette Saty. A Memorial Service will be held at Lincoln Heights Community Church on Monday, July 23, 2012 at 1:00PM. Inurnment will follow at Spokane Memorial Gardens, 5909 S. Cheney Spokane Rd. at 4:00PM.
