Richard James Brewer Obituary Richard James Brewer passed away suddenly on January 17, 2018, at his home. He was born June 23, 1953 in Mobile, Alabama, to Jim and Billie (Shelton) Brewer. He grew up in Richland, Washington, and graduated from Columbia High School in 1971. He attended Columbia Basin College in Pasco, Washington, then transferred to Washington State University in Pullman, Washington, in 1973. He moved to Spokane, Washington, in 1980, and after working at ISC for 10 years, attended Spokane Community College, where he eventually interviewed and accepted a job in the IT Department. He continued to work for the Community Colleges of Spokane for another 27 years. He was a member of Spokane County's Explorer Search and Rescue for many years. He became a big fan of both Gonzaga men's and women's basketball and recently discovered a love for zip-lining. He is survived by his wife, Karen, of 43 years; daughters, Samantha Brewer, Corrie (Ed) Goff and Valerie Brewer; granddaughters, Athena Goff (16), Elly Brewer-Goff (10), Gwen Goff (6), and Rylee Goff (4); and sisters Connie Brewer and Barbara (Ken) Dynarski; and several nephews, nieces, cousins, and other loved ones. He was preceded in death by his father, Hubert James Brewer, and mother Billie Louise (Shelton) Brewer. Services will be held at the Heritage Funeral Home in Spokane.
