Richard Thomas "Rick" Ryan

January 20, 1953 - March 29, 2017

Richard Thomas "Rick" Ryan Obituary Beloved son, brother, husband, father and grandfather. Rick entered into rest Wednesday peacefully at home with his wife by his side. Born in Soap Lake, WA to Frances Joanne Harbeston(d) and Thomas Dennis RickRyan(d). He is also preceded in death by his grandson, Isaiah D. Moody and his brother, Scott D. Ryan. Rick entered the Army April 1971, serving in Aircraft Maintenance/repair in the US Army, 10th Bn, 81st Inf while in Vietnam 5/71 to 1/72. Upon early US troop withdrawal he finished his duty in the USAR Unit in Spokane as helicopter crew chief. He started his career in construction working in Colstrip, MT at the coal fired plant then later in the drywall and metal building fields. He achieved his AA in Saddlemaking/Leatherwork from SFCC and found his true passion of art. Rick lived around and in Spokane where he attended Shadle Park HS. Rick was a drummer w/band in his teenage years where music stayed in his soul forever. He was an avid outdoorsman loving to hunt, fish, camp and explore the Pacific Northwest. He and his wife moved out towards Deer Park/Chattaroy area in 1987 where he actively participated in raising his two children, coached youth baseball/softball for them and Riverside sports. Rick was a kind, genuine person who would do anything for anyone. He is survived by his partner/wife of 41 years, Margaret Claire(Logsdon); son Richard Grady Ryan; daughter Kelly Joanne Moody (Danny); two grandchildren Elijah and Lena Mae Moody. Also he is survived by his brothers, Tim Fitzgerald (Mary Jane), Jack Ryan, Brian McLean (Patty), Greg Ryan (NY); numerous nieces and nephews; his uncle Jack; aunt Edris Harbeston along with many cousins. He will be dearly missed but he is free of his physical ill health and enjoying a new adventure. Rick, you are in our hearts and memories forever. Love never dies. Graveside service will be held at Riverside Memorial Park. 508 N. Govt Way, Spokane on Friday, April 7th at 2:30. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to ANY veteran association of your choice in Ricks honor. Check local chapters please.
