Robert "Bob" Vail

Robert "Bob" Vail Obituary Died at Kootenai Medical Center in Coeur d'Alene, ID on Saturday, May 16, 2009. He was born in Missoula, MT on March 3, 1930. Bob moved to Spokane with his parents at an early age and then to Clarkston. He graduated from Clarkston High School in 1947. He married Wilma Denham and worked at the family office equipment business in Lewiston and Moscow until 1959. They moved to Everett, WA where he opened his own office equipment business. In 1965 the family returned to Clarkston. He earned a degree from Lewis Clark State College, then completed a Master's degree from the University of Idaho. Upon being hired by LCSC in 1970, he helped start the Mid-Management Program, where he taught until retirement in 1994. He and Wilma enjoyed extensive traveling in the U.S. and overseas, especially Europe, England, Greece and Turkey. He enjoyed spending time at their home at Rockford Bay on Lake Coeur d'Alene. He was an avid tennis player for most of his life. He also liked spending time on Lake Coeur d'Alene and Puget Sound in their live-aboard sailboat. In 1996 he moved to Coeur d'Alene to be closer to medical facilities where he was being treated for Parkinson's disease. Besides his wife, Wilma, he is survived by three children, Doug and wife, Maxine of Fairfield, WA, Sharon Bensching and husband, Tom of Clarkston and Ron and wife, Mary Jane of Spokane. He is also survived by his brothers, Don, and wife, Lori of Clarkston and Dick, and wife Mary of Sagle, ID, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Inurnment will be at Vineland Cemetery in Clarkston, WA. No services will be held for Bob at his request. Memorials may be made to the charity of your choice in his memory.
