Robert "Bob" Virgil Cofer Obituary
(Age 91)
Bob left this earth to be with our Lord on September 30, 2015. Born October 8, 1923 in Atlanta, GA, Bob was one of six siblings. Bob worked the family farm until becoming of age to work in the war factories and later joined the Army. He fought in WWII and was part of the second wave to storm the beaches of Normandy and was awarded the Purple Heart.
After the war, Bob met the love of his life Mildred Beatrice Gould and they wed on September 11, 1948. They spent the next 62 years together and had six children, Robert Jr., Linda, Charles, Sandra, Sharon and Carrol.
Bob was an adventurist and enjoyed travel. He drove 49 of the 50 states and visited all the national parks and as many of the state parks as he could. Bob was an avid hunter and always enjoyed being out in the wilderness.
Next to this family, Bob took pride in being a member of the Church of Christ. Through his many moves he was a member of many churches and always enjoyed his fellowship. Later in life Bob joined the Sojourners Ministries and traveled all over the country giving a helping hand to churches in need of help.
Bob is survived by his children, 15 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by sisters Mary Alice Cofer and Sara Cofer, brother Homer Cofer, wife Mildred Beatrice Cofer and granddaughter Sheri Lynn Hendrix-Stevens.
A Memorial Service will be held at 1 pm on Saturday, October 17, 2015 at the Southside Church of Christ, 1225 E Newark, Spokane, WA. Potluck to follow services at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made on Bob?s behalf to Hospice of Spokane.
