Robert James Knudson Obituary (Age 86) On Wednesday, July 27th we lost our dear Husband, Father, and Grandfather. He died peacefully in his sleep, in Tukwila, WA. He is gone, but not forgotten and will be missed and remembered with love and appreciation. He is now with his dear wife, Clara Knudson, whom he missed and loved very deeply. He is survived by his daughter Barbara Schaffner, son David Knudson, granddaughters Clarissa McCall, Jackie McCall, and grandsons William McCall, and Robert McCall. Robert Bob Knudson was born on October 12, 1929 in Denver, CO to Clarence Knudson and Betty Fredericks. His childhood was filled with struggle, and he always said, the fire makes the blade stronger. He will always be remembered as a strong, independent, generous, and loving person, who always made sure to provide for those he loved. He was very proud and honored to serve his country in the Army Air Force during World War II, liberating the concentration camps, and the Korean War doing fire, crash, and rescue. While in the military, he injured his collarbone and was nursed back to health by a military nurse who would end up his wife and the love of his life. After military service, he fought forest fires and ultimately became a Land Surveyor. He greatly loved animals, nature, and being outdoors. Ultimately, he and his wife moved to Spokane, WA where they would stay happily together for the next 50 years, in their beloved house in the country. Together, they had two children, Barbara Schaffner and David Knudson. And, as a testament to his big heart, and generous, caring nature, Bob and his wife Clara would end up also raising a second family, in their retirement years -their grandchildren Crissy, Jackie, and Robert. Inurnment will be held at Greenwood Memorial Terrance on Thursday, August 4th at 11am and a Memorial Service will be held at Heritage Funeral Chapel on Thursday, August 4, 2016 at 1pm. To plant a beautiful memorial tree in memory of Robert, please visit our Tree Store.
