Robert Kirk Obituary
Bob passed peacefully with his wife and daughter at his side on April 12th at Sacred Heart Hospital. He died of complications resulting from a long term heart condition. He attended architectural college in Seattle and married his wife and life partner on May 3, 1947. Moving from Seattle to Spokane in 1949, Bob created, owned and managed Kirk's Drive-In. It was the first and very successful 19? hamburger restaurant in the Inland Empire (milkshakes were 21?!) They then moved back to Seattle, then Los Altos, CA, Anchorage, AK, and eventually back to Spokane to their present home. Known for his exceptional culinary architecture, he worked for several hotel and restaurant supply companies in contract sales and design and was instrumental in the concept-to-completion of several well known restaurants on the west coast and in Hawaii. Having a great sense of humor, he was often observed laughing at a good joke until tears rolled down his cheeks. Being a skilled carpenter and craftsman with a wonderful engineering mind, he designed and helped to build his home at Big Lake, AK, and used his skills to create clever and unique features in all of the family's homes. Bob is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Florence Kuper Kirk, his daughter Lynelle Kirk-Spence of Cremona, AB, Canada and his son Gregory Kirk of Spokane. His only regret was not managing to play more golf in his last years. There will be a cremation with no service. The family wishes to thank all who cared for Bob, including home care nurses, and doctors, nurses and attendants at Sacred Heart Hospital. Their care and concern was exemplary. He will forever be missed and never forgotten by those who loved and knew him.
