Roberta "Bobby" Virginia Mallozzi Obituary Roberta (Bobby) Virginia Mallozzi died peacefully surrounded by her family Tuesday, August 23rd. Roberta was born in Murphysboro, Illinois on April 3, 1922 to Ray and Gertrude Lindsey. When she was 3, the family business was destroyed by a tornado, almost taking young Roberta with it. The Lindsey family moved to Marysville, Washington where Roberta married Harold Millikan January 17, 1942 and had their only daughter, Barbara, in May 1943. Roberta worked in the Marysville school district for several years before moving to Newark, California where she went into business with her brother, Gordon, creating the Fremont and Newark Memorial Chapel funeral homes, where she worked for 30 years. In 1983, Harold died after a long battle with Alzheimer?s. In 1988 Roberta married Jay Mallozzi, her best friend and traveling companion. They enjoyed only a year of blissful marriage before Jay died suddenly in 1989. Bobby moved to Spokane in the late 90s to be closer to her daughter, Barbara. She made her home in San Souci before moving to Fairview Assisted Living Facility where she had many friends and hosted quite a few social gatherings. Bobby loved shopping at Nordstrom, winning at the slot machines in Reno, traveling the world and cocktail hour. Roberta is known for her strong opinions, her sense of humor and her love of a good time with family and friends. Roberta is preceded in death by her husbands, Harold Millikan and Jay Mallozzi; her brothers Wilson and Gordon, and her sister Laura Hagen. Roberta leaves behind her daughter Barbara McKay and her partner Ingrid Carlson of Spokane; her sister Dorothy and Joe Pereira of Everett; brother Ray Lindsey of Forest Grove, Oregon; grandson Matt and Heather McKay of Newport; granddaughter Marci McKay and partner Tasmyn Bowes of Olympia and great-granddaughter Madison (and Callie arriving in November). A time of visitation will be held at Heritage Funeral Home on Friday, August 26, 2011 from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. A memorial service will be held at Fairview Assisted Living Facility on Saturday, August 27, 2011 at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers please send donations to Fairview Assisted Living Facility 1617 N. Calispel, or Horizon Hospice Care.
