Roger E. Mace Obituary (Age 81) In loving memory of Roger Eugene Mace. Roger was born in Idaho Falls, ID on June 6, 1933 and entered into rest on July 4, 2014. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 47 years, Norma, his parents and brothers and sister. He is survived by his three children; son, Kevin (Caroline) Mace of Spokane, WA; daughter Karoylee (Patrick) McDonald of Newport, WA and daughter Karen (Richard) Colon of Spokane, WA; two grandchildren, Melanie (John) Heimark and Ashley McDonald; three step-grandchildren, Allison, Ryan and Caitlin; two great-grandchildren, Jameson and Zella; four step-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He attended North Central High School in Spokane until joining the U.S. Army in 1951. During 20 years of distinguished service to his country, he served in places as varied as Alaska, Korea, Vietnam and Germany, retiring in 1971 as Sergeant First Class and having been awarded the Bronze Star twice and the Purple Heart. Following his service to his country, he then served the citizens of the State of Washington as advocate and counselor for the residents of Lakeland Village in Medical Lake, WA before retiring in 1994. Roger was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing the many lakes and streams of Washington with his wife and family. He enjoyed traveling throughout the Pacific N.W and visiting many of the �off the beaten path� sights to be seen. He enjoyed Native American and western art and culture. Above all else he enjoyed spending time with his family, sharing a good (or bad) joke and telling and listening to a good story. Roger will be missed by all who knew him. The family of Roger wishes to offer a heart-felt thank you to the management and staff of Wind River House and their loving care of Dad, and to express their wish that in lieu of flowers please donate with a generous spirit in loving memory of Roger to the Wounded Warrior Project, The Lilac Service for the Blind or the charity of your choice. Visitation will be on Tuesday, July 8, 2014 from 12-5 PM at Heritage Funeral Home.
