Ronald E. Cater

February 7, 1945, to July 16, 2026

Ron was born in Tucson, Arizona to Clare Cater and Shirley Cater Marion.  He attended Hutton Grade School in Spokane, graduated from Lewis and Clark High School in 1963, and graduated from Eastern Washington University in 1967.   He and Linda (Lindy) Warner were married in 1969, and welcomed sons Charles (Charlie) in 1972 and Benjamin (Ben) in 1975.  He had one special granddaughter, Jasmin Liwanag, born in 2000.  

Ron went to work with Central Pre-Mix straight out of college and continued for 37 years with the company, rising to the position of Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of CPM Development.  He was trusted and respected for his good judgment, hard work, and ability to put others at ease.  

He was a good man, thoughtful, kind, and generous.  Ron was always ready and willing to help those around him.  He was someone that family, friends, and neighbors always knew that they could rely on.  

He loved children and had fun with Charlie, Ben, and Jasmin when they were young. Neighborhood children delighted in his outdoor Christmas decorations for many years. He coached youth soccer and volunteered for the Spokane Youth Sports Association.  

Ron started playing soccer in his early 30s.  He played with the infamous Stingers, a co-ed adult soccer team in the Spokane Valley, and continued playing pick-up games with friends into his 80s.  Ron was also an avid soccer fan and thoroughly enjoyed watching his favorite team, Liverpool FC.

Following retirement, Ron and Lindy traveled all over Europe, as well as parts of Africa, Asia, and Latin America. However, his favorite place in the world was Twin Lakes, Idaho. After building a lake house he spent as much time there as possible, staying busy with projects and enjoying watching the wildlife with a cold beer at sunset.  

Ron is survived by his wife Lindy, brother Mark Marion, sons Ben and Charlie, daughter-in-law Poorvi Chitalkar, granddaughter Jasmin, and Henry the dog.

Donations in honor of Ron may be made to any non-profit organization supporting low-income children.  

A celebration of his life will take place in August.
