Ronald E. Franklin Obituary (Age 80) Ron passed away on July 19, 2015. He was born on October 8, 1934 in Orofino, Idaho to Earl and Nellie Franklin. At the age of eight he moved with his family to Big Creek, Idaho near Kellogg. After graduating from Kellogg High School, Ron studied automotive mechanics at North Idaho College for one quarter and then enlisted in the U.S. Army in January of 1954. After his discharge from the Army, Ron studied briefly at the University of Idaho where he met his first wife Loretta Moore. Ron and Loretta relocated to Coeur d'Alene/Spokane area and Ron enrolled in the school of drafting at Spokane Community College. He was hired as a draftsman at Spokane Machinery Company just in time to support his growing family of his daughter Rhonda born in 1958 and his son Douglas born in 1959. Ron worked for Spokane Machinery for 36 years before retiring in 1996. Ron was an avid outdoorsman and was active in numerous sporting activities. He enjoyed adventure travels with his second wife Naomi, and loved family get-togethers with his large extended family. His grandchildren were the light of his life. Ron is survived by his wife Naomi; daughter Rhonda Johnson (husband Allen); son Douglas Franklin (wife Theresa); grandson Gavin Johnson; granddaughters, Lauryl Johnson and Shannon Johnson; sister Yvonne Weber; former spouse Loretta Kilgore; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, July 31, 2015 at 2:00PM at Heritage Funeral Home. A gathering will follow at the Southside Senior and Community Center, 3151 E. 27th Ave., Spokane, WA 99223.
