Ronald Leroy Bouchard Obituary Smiling Ron (Age 66) We celebrate the life and mourn the loss of Ron Bouchard, born November 11, 1949 in Tacoma, WA. He passed away June 21, 2016 in Spokane, WA. After four years as the only child, his family expanded as his mother, Blanche Bouchard, married Philip H. Koch making Spokane their home. He grew up the eldest with eight siblings and half the neighborhood kids! Ron attended high school at North Central where he was involved in choir and baseball. After high school, he honorably served eight years in the U.S. Air Force. He then moved to Oregon where he pursued further education before beginning a long career in the Parks and Recreation field, both in Oregon and Washington. Ron had many talents - the soul of an artist early on, he began playing guitar at twelve and by sixteen was writing and performing his own music. He became quite well known for his music over the years. Another talent he had was playing chess and he was a fanatic; he enjoyed the game whether teaching new players or pouring over historys Grand Masters tournament games. He was a United States Chess Federation lifetime member and achieved Grand Master ratings. Ron loved life, his family, friends, having a good time as well as just loving life to its fullest. Ron is survived by: two grandchildren, Kaelic and Alexia Bouchard; sons Adam Bouchard and Brian Koch; sisters, Phyllis (Angelo) Troncale, Sammie (Kenneth) Fisette, Karla Goenen, Diana Kay; brothers, William Koch and Carl Lauer; many nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews; and the greatest niece, all of whom he loved and was dearly loved by. Ron was preceded in death by: his grandparents, Clarence and Bertha Koch; parents, Philip H. Koch Sr. and Aldene Koch; mother Blanche Strayer; sister, Shirley Koch; and brothers, Gene Koch and Philip H. Koch Jr. A memorial service will be held at Heritage Funeral Home on Saturday June 25th at 2pm with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, please contribute to your local food bank.
