Ronald Matles Obituary (Age 67) On Friday Sept 4, 2009, we lost a great husband, best friend, father, grandfather, and man. Ronald Matles, age 67, of Spokane, passed away on Friday, September 4, 2009 surrounded by his family who loved him so very much. Ron was born July 21, 1942 in Brooklyn, NY, to Herbert and Molly Matles. He was a graduate of the City College of New York, where he met and married the love of his life, partner, and best friend Joyce Matles on August 15th, 1968. Ron served as an officer in the United States Air Force from 1968-1989. During his distinguished military career, Ron achieved the rank of Major and served in numerous capacities including a C-141 Pilot, Chief of Strategies and Logistics for the United States Air Force, Chief Operations Support Officer, Supply and Logistics Officer, and Officer Training Corp Professor American Defense Policy at Colorado State University. For the past two decades, Ron has sold real estate, teaming with his wife Joyce as one of the top producers in Spokane, Washington and its surrounding areas at Tomlinson Real Estate Group. Ron touched so many lives and people during his life. He brought joy to everyone he met. He was a good, kind, and caring man. He was an avid philanthropist and active leader in the Spokane Community where he served on the United Way Board of Directors, Spokane Interplayers Theater Board of Directors, ART Theater Board of Directors as well as the countless other charities he participated and contributed to. Above everything else in his life his family was his number one priority. He dedicated his life to his family and loved ones, ensuring they were safe, loved, and happy. Ron is survived by his beloved wife Joyce, son and daughter-in-law Robert & Lauren (Chicago, IL), son and daughter-in-law Harley & Pinar (Emerald Hills, CA), and son Michael (San Francisco, CA), and his four grandchildren who inherited his beautiful blue eyes, Jake, Jordyn, Julian, and Nicole. His family and friends will miss Ron's love, friendship, happiness, generosity, kindness, and wonderful sense of humor. Services will be held at 11am, Tuesday, September 8th at Mount Nebo Cemetery on Government Way in Spokane, Washington. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Sacred Heart Childrens Hospital.
