Ronald Nicodemus Obituary (Age 71) Ronald Nicodemus passed away peacefully at Holy Family Hospital on April 13, 2018. Born in Des Moines, Iowa, on September 1, 1946, to Lester and Helen Nicodemus, Ron moved to Spokane when he was 5 years old. Raised in North Spokane Ron attended Shadle Park High School graduating in 1964. He attended EWU and in 1968 earned a BA in Public Administration. Following graduation he volunteered to join the Navy during the height of the Vietnam War where he trained as an avionics technician and was discharged in 1976. In 1977 Ron began a storied 40-year career with the City of Spokane as a park security guard. He transferred to parking enforcement where he met the love of his life Victoria and they married on March 12, 1983 at St. Paul�s Methodist Church. Their son Andrew was born in January of 1985. Ron continued his career rising through the ranks to become manager of utilities billing. Ron was an avid sports fan, following all programs and playing fantasy sports. Ron�s passion was college football and basketball. He played the final four brackets every year and in 2018 came in third winning a prize. Ron and his family enjoyed hiking, biking and traveling. Favorite trips included a New Orleans, Honduras, Cozumel and Belize cruise where he swam with dolphins and climbed to the top of Mayan Ruins. Following a trip in 2016 to San Diego Ron was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Fighting a long, valiant battle, Ron was ever optimistic and continued to work because he loved his job and serving the citizens of Spokane. A devoted husband and father, public servant and all-around good guy. Ron will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Ron is survived by his wife Victoria, son Andrew, sisters Suzanne Leckie of Mesa Arizona, Janice Eseke of Spokane Washington and numerous nieces and nephews. Ron was preceded in death by his parents Lester and Helen Nicodemus and his brother Arnold Nicodemus. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, April 20, 2018 at Heritage Funeral Home.
