Roy Eldon Marsh Obituary Our beloved husband, father and friend, Roy Eldon Marsh left this earth to be with his Heavenly Father on May 10th, 2011. He died peacefully in his sleep two weeks shy of his 78th birthday with his children and loving wife Beverly at his side. The youngest of five children, Roy is preceded in death by his parents Harvey Edward and Lydia Catherine Marsh, his brothers Louie and Harvey and sisters Helen and Lillian. Born in Morgan Acres on May 27, 1933 he was a lifetime resident of Spokane and graduated from Mead High School in 1952. He worked at Kaiser Aluminum from 1953-1960 with a two year stint in the middle with the U.S. Army during the Korean War. From 1960-1988 Roy worked as a firefighter for the City of Spokane and retired a Lieutenant after a long and distinguished career. Beverly and Roy were married on November 1, 1952 and have five children: three daughters, Cheryl (Jim) Wilson, Nola (Doug) Sewell, Judy (Dave) DeLaMatter and two sons, Ken (Connie) and Ron Marsh, all of Spokane. The couple was graced with twenty-one grandchildren and many great-grandchildren including a newborn namesake, Garrett Roy born April 7, 2011! Roy's legacy of firefighting was passed on to his grandson Michael DeLaMatter who has been on the job since 2008. After retiring in 1988 Roy and Bev sold the home they built in 1965 and traveled the country in a motor home for several years before settling for eleven winters in Mesa, Arizona where the two adventurers enjoyed riding motorcycles in the desert, hiking the Grand Canyon and spending warm evenings socializing with friends. After spending many summers at their home in Liberty Lake, WA, the two joined their children in 2000 in building them a new home in North Spokane. There, the two filled their days with beautiful flower gardens and crafts of all kinds. Many an evening was spent watching their beloved Zags and Mariners. Roy lived a humble and selfless life completely devoted to his wife and children...nothing brought him more joy than to see smiles on our faces. We will forever feel his absence. A special thanks to Roy's brothers-in-law, Bill Starr and Duane Miles, your friendship was such a blessing! The family would also like to extend heartfelt thanks to Drs. Doug Wysham and Timothy Icenogle as well as P.A.s Dami and Radakovich...through their loving care the family was able to enjoy 16 more years with their amazing father. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, May 16th at 3:00 p.m. at Timberview Christian Fellowship, 15111 N. Howe Rd. Mead, WA 99021. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Timberview Christian Fellowship, or Hospice House of Spokane, 367 E. 7th Avenue, Spokane, WA 99202. To plant a beautiful memorial tree in memory of Roy, please visit our Tree Store.
