Ruth Eleanor (Johnson) Gallagher Obituary Ruth Eleanor (Johnson) Gallagher February 13th, 1930 � October 16th, 2020 Ruth peacefully passed away Friday morning, October 16th, 2020 at the age of 90. Preceded in death by her Father Walter Johnson, Mother Cora (Kittilson) Johnson, sister June W. Johnson and husband John E. Gallagher. Survived by sons, John Gallagher and Kenneth Gallagher; 8 grandchildren; Samuel, Maureen, Rachel, and Andrew of Anchorage AK; Danielle, Luke and Alexa of Spokane; WA and Kristen Daschofsky (husband-Ashley) and 2 great grandchildren, Khloe Fredericksen and Brody Daschofsky of Walla Walla WA. Ruth was born in Spokane Washington where she grew up on a wheat and dairy farm with her parents and sister. She attended elementary at Glenora, a two-room schoolhouse on Paradise Prairie, south of Spokane. She graduated from Lewis and Clark High School in 1948 and completed her Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology at Holy Names College in May 1953. Immediately thereafter, she completed a course at the St. Luke�s Hospital School of Medical Technology in Spokane Washington and was qualified in Clinical Laboratory Sciences in June of 1953. In September 1964, Ruth was on staff and head of the general lab at the opening of the new Holy Family Hospital in north Spokane. She married John E. Gallagher in December 1962, relocated to Spokane Valley, where she raised two sons, John and Ken. She also became a lifetime member of Zion Lutheran Church, attending for some 50 years. Ruth was an avid fan of sports including the summer and winter Olympics, the Major League Baseball playoffs, Gonzaga University basketball and lots and lots of grandchildren�s soccer, volleyball, softball, gymnastics and ice hockey events. She enjoyed being outside, caring for personal landscapes, planning and executing the annual 2 week RV camping trip, as well as leisure boating and activities at Loon Lake Washington with her family. A funeral service on Sunday October 25 at 2pm will be live streamed on FaceBook.com/ZionMillwood.
