Ruth Lorraine (Ellis) Rantanen Obituary (Age 91) It is with great sorrow to announce the death of our beloved mother, grand-mother, great-grand- mother, sister and friend, Ruth. She was the fifth child of seven to be born to the Ellis family in Sturgis, SD March 14, 1923. Her family settled out west in Prosser, WA where Ruth completed high school and later she moved to Spokane, WA. In 1945, Ruth met and married her great love, Jack Rantanen. Together they raised two daughters, Dolly Browder (David) of Missoula and Babs Gladhart-Rigos (Rod) of Spokane. Ruth's favorite thing was raising her children. Once they were in school, she worked at Burroughs Corps. and Medical Service where she made many lasting friends. She was an accomplished artist and loving person. Ruth passed away May 9, 2014, with her daughter Babs by her side. She is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Berta Ellis, husband Jack, sister Edyth, brothers Stan, Bob and Clayton Ellis. She is survived by her daughters Dolly and Babs, sister Jo Lang of Palm Springs, brother George Ellis (Karen) of Los Angeles, three grandchildren, Nigel Gladhart, Amanda Browder and Vanessa Browder, two great-granddaughters, Mila and Simone, and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. The family wishes to express heartfelt appreciation for the wonderful care she received at The Open Door Adult Family Home for the last year. They greatly appreciate the gentle, prompt care she received from Hospice of Spokane. As requested by Ruth, no service will be held. Her remains will be placed with Jack's at Fairmount Memorial Park.
