27-Mar-14

Salicia "Janice" Saree Smith Obituary Salicia joined her beloved parents and sister, George, Gertrude and Mary Smith in heaven on March 27th. Salicia grew up in Spokane and was awarded a scholarship to the American Theater Ballet School in New York City. Upon graduation she became a successful ballet dancer on the New York stage, San Francisco stage and with many touring productions. She appeared in Cinderella, Brigadoon, The King and I, and Swan Lake among numerous others. Salicia lived in New York, San Francisco and Coeur dAlene but loved New York and the artistic environment there the most. After retiring from the stage she became an interior decorator in New York City. Though she was miles from Spokane, her delightful phone calls from the big city brought joy to those of us here and elsewhere. Her sweet laugh and warm heart will be missed. She is survived by her cousins Kris Mikkelsen and Sarah Impecoven. A celebration of her life will be held Monday, April 7 at 1 pm at Sunset Chapel inside Fairmount Memorial Park, 5200 W. Wellesley Ave, Spokane, WA.
