Sally W. Gaff Obituary Sally was born in Saginaw, Michigan on November 11, 1919. She passed away at age 91 on December 29, 2010. She leaves behind her husband of 67 years, John W Gaff, Jr.; her eldest son John W. Gaff III, her two daughters, Judy G. Wood and Katie G. Peters and her husband Michael C. Peters; her Grandchildren C. Beth Gaff, Aimie Sheinhorn, Heather Wood, John M. Peters; and her step-grandchildren Daniel B. Peters, Brian C. Peters and Shannon M. Killian and her many dear and lifelong friends. Sally attended Olivet College in Michigan. At 13 years old she met John in Junior High School in Jackson, MI. They later married in Amherst, Massachusetts on August 28, 1943 while John was stationed at Westover AFB. After WWII, John and Sally enjoyed a 30 year career in the USAF traveling to many states and bases. She was an active volunteer with the OWC�s (Officer�s Wives Club) at every base, often serving as an officer or president, and she participated in many base welfare organizations such as the Grey Ladies and American Red Cross. Upon their retirement in 1970 they started building their dream home together on beautiful Priest Lake, Idaho where they lived happily for nearly 30 years. Sally helped found the Priest Lake Library and helped endow the Priest Lake Museum. In the middle 1990�s Sally and John moved back to Spokane and lived many years at the Spokane River Falls Tower and then later on to Rockwood Manor on Spokane�s south hill. Sally was a lifetime member of the Episcopal Church and worked as a volunteer many years at The Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist and one of their Guilds. She was a formative bridge player at the Lake and at the Spokane Club. She was a master at entertaining, an avid book reader and a dedicated and creative gardener.
