Sam L. Picicci

Sam Leroy Picicci, age 83, of Spokane, WA, passed away peacefully on May 29th surrounded by family. Sam was born to Joseph and Venita (Veltrie) Picicci on April 11, 1942, and spent his early childhood in Almira, WA where he also attended elementary school. Following the death of his father when Sam was 13, he, his mother, and siblings moved to Spokane where he attended Gonzaga Prep. 


He married Sandra Probst on July 18th, 1964.  They shared 61 years together and raised 3 children, Patrick, Terry and Samuel. Sam spent his career of 55 years with Patterson Dental Company and along the way led the company in top sales for many of those years. 

Sam was a devoted son, brother, husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Along with his siblings Sam enjoyed a love for classic cars and for him specifically Mustangs. He took pride in cleaning and showing his cars for others to enjoy. Sam was heavily involved with the local hockey organization S.A.Y.H.A that his boys played in. As the boy’s grew older Sam took on numerous positions within the organization from fundraising to lead role president. He was a devoted Catholic in his daily life. Sam cherished his time with his entire family and truly enjoyed the yearly Picicci-Veltrie Italian picnic and camping on Lake Pend Oreille at Sam Owen Campground. 


Sam is predeceased by his parents; sisters Louise Clary, Josephine Melnick; brother's Jack, and Jim.  He is survived by wife Sandie, sons Patrick (Chandra), Terry (Nicole), Samuel (Tanya); Grandsons Ryan (Kari), Alex (Abby), Reigan, Grayson, Hudson, Cameron, Samuel; Granddaughter Ashlynn; Great Grandsons Bryson and Henrick; Great Granddaughter Mia; brothers, Joe, Dean (Toni), sister-in-law Joanne; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Rosary Service will be held on Monday, June 16th, 2025 at 6:30 pm at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. 545 E. Providence Ave, Spokane, WA 99207. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 am, Tuesday, June 17th, 2025, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, with a Graveside Service to follow at 12:30 pm at Fairmount Memorial Park. 5200 W Wellesley Ave. Spokane, WA 99205. After, the Picicci family would like to invite friends and family to the Fieldhouse Pizza & Pub for a reception.


In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Sam's name to the following Charity: Nels Venerus Hockey Scholarship Foundation.
