Sandra Lee Moon

Sandra Lee Moon Obituary (Age 73) Sandra L. Moon passed away December 9, 2017 at Hospice House in Spokane, WA. She was born June 20, 1944 at Swedish Hospital in Seattle, WA to James A. and Helen Kellogg. Sandi was the youngest of two children; her family settled in the Mead area when she was a small child. Sandi attended school at Mead Elementary, Mead Jr. High, Mead Senior High and Spokane Community College where she earned her nurse aid certificate. She married her husband of 50 years, Jack Moon, on September 8, 1967. After their marriage, Sandi and Jack moved to Spokane for a few short months before moving back to the family homestead in 1968. Sandi gave birth to their daughter, Tammie, the first of two children in 1968, followed by their son, Tim, in 1970. Sandi had many exciting occupations throughout her life. She worked as a nurses aid at Tri-County hospital in Deer Park, WA. Her true love, other than being a wife and mother, was her position as a forestry lookout. Sandi served predominantly in the forestry lookout on Mt. Spokane. She also enjoyed time on Saddle Mt. near Newport and Lookout Point above Nine-Mile. She held this occupation for 22 years before the lookouts were retired from active fire watch service. Sandi was a volunteer firefighter and emergency medical technician (EMT) for Colbert Fire Department and Deer Park Ambulance. She also dispatched part-time for Fire District #4 and Fire District #9 as well as Spokane Ambulance. In addition to family and her occupations, Sandi held obligations to her favorite organizations very dear. She was president of Theta Rho 1962-1963; President of the Rebekah Assembly of Washington from 2004-2005; Regiment President of LAPM, WA 2009-2010; LEA Grand Matriarch 2012-2013; and Past President Spokane Auxiliary #2 Fraternal Order of Eagles. At the time of her death she was a current member of Hope Rebekah Lodge, Hillyard Rebekah Lodge, Samaritan Odd Fellow Lodge and Unique Unified Encampment. Sandi is survived by her husband, Jack Moon of Mead, WA; daughter and son-in-law, Tammie and Mike Drapeau of Mead, WA; son, Tim Moon of Mead, WA; grandchildren, Lance Drapeau and wife Melissa of Spokane, WA and Colton Drapeau of Mead, WA; great-granddaughter, Emelyn Drapeau; and brother, James Jim Kellogg of Spokane, WA. Sandi was preceded in death by her parents and sister-in-law, Virginia Kellogg. A memorial service will be Sunday, December 17, 2017 at 1:30pm at Heritage Funeral Home.
