Sandra P. (Thompson) Irwin Obituary (Age 83) Sandy passed away on February 1, 2018, just a few weeks short of her 84th birthday. She was born in Wausau, WI on February 19, 1934. Following her graduation from Edison High School in 1951, she went to the College of Medical Technology and later worked as a lab/X-ray technician. Sandy moved to California in 1954, living with an aunt and uncle for about a year before moving to Alameda, CA, where she met her husband of 54 years, S.E. (Bucky) Thompson. Sandy and Bucky both loved dancing. They met at a ballroom in Oakland, where Bucky was soon to be discharged from the Navy. Both Sandy and Bucky left a legacy of volunteerism with their children. In addition to her volunteer work, Sandy was creative by nature. She loved sewing, doing crafts and flower arranging. Her home was always decorated for the season or the most current holiday, even the not so significant ones! She loved to entertain and was a gracious hostess. Following Buckys death, Sandy became friends with her neighbor at Riverview Retirement Village, Dr. Hampton Irwin, and they eventually married in September 2013. During their brief marriage, Sandy and Hampton enjoyed traveling both domestically and abroad. Dr. Irwin passed away in the fall of 2015.
