Sharon Olson Obituary
(Age 77) On Saturday, March 11th our world became more empty. Sharon King Olson, age 77, passed away unexpectedly at Deaconess Hospital in Spokane, leaving a void in the many lives she had touched over the years. Sharon, the oldest child of Paul and Lydia King, was born on August 31, 1939 in Billings, Montana. Sharon was a strong confident woman and many people looked to her for her professional wisdom, intelligence and guidance over the years. She worked all during high school as a secretary for Curtis Phipps Real Estate Appraisal Servicer. Later she became an Executive Secretary to the Norwest Bank Billings President. She enjoyed a very successful career as a Realtor and real estate broker in both Billings and Spokane. In May 2011, she retired from her position of Vice President at Windermere Relocation/Mountain West.
Following retirement, Sharon loved her quiet time with husband Larry and her two dogs. She especially enjoyed her time at home tending her flower pots and sitting on the deck enjoying the peace of their beautiful backyard. Summer also included time at the Sacheen Lake cabin sitting on the dock reading and watching the sunlight on the water. When Fall rolled around, she passionately cheered on her hometown favorite Gonzaga Bulldogs. (Maybe not so much quiet time with this last one).
Sharon is survived by her husband of 28 years and the love of her life Larry; brother Dale (Donna) King of Clever, MO and sister Terri (Jack) Smith of Spearfish, SD; children, Cindy House of Billings, MT, Michelle House of Seattle, WA, Scott Olson (Marsha) of Billings, MT, Leah Olson of Bozeman, MT; grandchildren Tessa, Hannah (Dan Vigne), Emily, Landon and Joe Olson and great granddaughter, Theia; Sharon was preceded in death by her father Paul B. King and mother Lydia Hein King.
Sharon is greatly missed by all who loved her. Sharon embodied impeccable style and grace. It was obvious in her beauty, her home and everywhere in her environment. Our hearts will be reminded of her gifts of love, strength and laughter each time we see a beautiful flower garden or a tranquil mountain lake. But first, in her new position she will concentrate on making certain her Zags make it to the Final Four!
Sharon, we will miss you so much but will always hold you close in our hearts.
A Celebration of Life will be scheduled later this Spring. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your favorite charity or Sharons favorite - The Spokane Humane Society located at 6607 N. Havana Street, Spokane, WA 99217. (509) 467-5235
