Shirley Claire Negretti Obituary
In the very early hours of January 8, 2010, Shirley Negretti's Spirit moved on to be with the Lord. She passed away quietly at Deaconess Medical Center, the very place she first met her husband, Michael Negretti M.D.,60 years ago. Shirley was an X-Ray Technician and Michael was a Resident at the time. Both of her children were born at Deaconess. To pass away at Deaconess seemed to complete a circle of her life. On the final ambulance ride, Michael said to Shirley, "We are going home honey". She was a wonderful Wife, Mother, Grandmother, and an incredible resilient person of many diverse talents. She will be missed greatly by all those who knew her. Shirley was born in St. Maries, Idaho, to Sophie and Clarence Hill. Shirley did not experience much time with her father, as he died in an accident during a great flood of the St. Joe River. She was only 2 years old at the time. Sophie Hill was alone, raising four daughters. Shirley was the youngest of the four. After they married she and Michael Negretti lived for a time in Boise, Idaho where Michael served in the Air Force during the Korean war. They then returned to Spokane, and never left. She is survived by her husband of 59 Years, Michael Negretti, her son and his wife Steven M. Negretti and Rita Negretti, their children, Nicholas Negretti, and Christina Negretti, Daughter Nancy Nordstrom and her son Vic Nordstrom, all living in the Spokane area. Mrs. Negretti is also survived by her three caring sisters, Helen Hill, Marjorie Morris, and Ida Stemple, nieces Carol Fullmer, Susan Perry, and many more family members and wonderful friends. She was a strong, selfless woman with many abilities. She enjoyed many crafts, bowling, golfing, snow and water skiing, and was constantly working on projects and repairs around the home, and at one of her favorite places, the cabin at Bead Lake. She also spent time with fund raising for several charities. She was truly versatile and could even be found helping her son repair motorcycles and cars. Her kindness and thoughtfulness toward all is what we shall miss the most. Memorial contributions may be made in Shirley's name to a charity of choice.
Memorial Services will be held on Monday, January 18, 2010, 3:00 PM
at St. Luke Lutheran Church,
