Shirley Jamison Obituary
Shirley Jamison age 85 passed away on August 15, 2011 in Spokane, WA. Shirley was born on April 26, 1926 to Ted and Mary Kendall at their home near Oakesdale WA. She was later joined by her sister Beverley. Shirley graduated from Oakesdale High School in 1944. On September 24, 1946 Shirley married Larry Tassler. Larry was in the Navy and they saw several duty stations through out the U.S. and had two daughters Patricia and Vickie. After his death in 1949 Shirley and her daughters returned to Oakesdale. While working at the Oakesdale Grange Supply, Shirley met Sam Jamison. They were married November 25, 1960. Sam and Shirley made their home on Sam?s farm at Farmington, WA. There they had daughter Candy. When Sam became ill they moved to Spokane where he died in 1974. Shirley lived in Spokane for the remainder of her life. She always had an interest in music and youth and for many years was involved with the Spokane Junior Symphony, a number of those years as their manager. She was also a 50 year member of the Hope Chapter #29, Order of the Eastern Star located in Oakesdale. In later years Shirley traveled and kept busy with the activities of her many grandchildren. Shirley is survived by her sister, Beverley Estey of Bullhead City, AZ; 3 children: Patricia (Terry) Sparks of Oak Harbor, WA, Vickie Sturdevant of Spokane, WA, Candy Hopkins of Oakesdale, WA; 7 grandchildren: Mary Winn, Cathy Attaway, Patrick Sparks, Kristine Duke, Craig Sturdevant, Jill Hopkins, Christopher Hopkins; 16 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her grandson Jim Sparks. At her request there will be no services. The family requests that any remembrances be made in Shirley?s name to Hospice of Spokane, Hospice House, 367 E 7th Ave, Spokane, WA 99202.
