Stanley A. Wood Obituary Our beloved husband, father, grandpa and friend joined our heavenly father on March 17. 2009. He was born to Ivan & Geri Wood on August 17, 1931 in Sullivan, IL. After Stanley graduated from Sullivan High School in 1949 he then attended Eastern Illinois State University. He then served in the U.S Air Force during the Korean War. While stationed at Fairchild Air Force base he met the love of his life, Lois Jean Moore at an USO dance and shortly after (love at first sight) married her on August 29, 1952. Stanley finished his education with a teaching degree from Eastern Washington University where he went on to teach for 31 years in the public schools. He served on the first faculty at Indian Trail Elementary in 1964. He educated and touched the lives of hundreds of children over the years. Stanley is survived by his wife Jean and their three children and six grandchildren: Kevin Wood spouse Marelee, sons Jordan, Tyler, and Ethan: Christy Roys spouse Walter daughter Melissa: and Kurt Wood spouse Laura, daughters Sara and Emily. Stanley is also survived by his mother Geri Wood and his brother Steve, wife Kathy and their children Leslie and Mike. Preceded in death was his father Ivan Wood. Stanley's life loves were painting, drawing and writing. He created numerous paintings and drawings over the years. He was a talented and creative artist. He also loved to write. He wrote and published a fictional book "Four Eyes" a book for middle school children. He also wrote and published a book of poetry called Wood Chips a beautiful collection of poems about his family and the world around him. Stanley love to be around his family and he cherished that the most. We love you Dad!!!!! and we rejoice in knowing you are with our Lord and that we will all be together again someday. A memorial service will be held on March 23, 2009 at 1pm at Fairmount Memorial Park at the Sunset Chapel. The family suggest in lieu of flowers donations be made to American Heart Association.
