Lorraine Carol Steiner, age 82, passed away peacefully with family by her side December 19, 2024 in the comfort of her own home after a short but courageous battle against cancer. Lorraine was born on August 10, 1942 in Longview, WA to Robert and Alma Nordean, and was the oldest of two children. She attended Holy Names Academy in Spokane, and married Jerry Steiner on March 2, 1963. Lorraine worked as a cook in the Mead School District for 25 years. She loved animals and the outdoors, spending much of her time gardening and maintaining her large property and many pets. No one grew ferns like Lorraine! She also enjoyed camping and boating with Jerry and their daughters. They spent many memorable summers on our area lakes with family and friends. She loved spending time visiting with her countless friends, frequenting our local casinos and of course doting on her one and only grandson, Carson.
Lorraine was preceded in death by her stepmother Shirley Nordean; her husband of 40 years Jerry; and their daughters Lynette and Leslie Steiner. She is survived by their youngest daughter Paula Williams; son-in-law Chris Williams; grandson Carson Williams; brother Carl “Gus” Nordean; sister-in-law Janet Nordean; longtime companion Bernard “Bumbi” Harris; and many nephews, nieces and in-laws.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 28, 2024 at noon at Heritage Funeral Home, 508 N. Government Way. Spokane, WA with a reception and graveside internment to follow. The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to Lorraine’s many friends who provided endless support during this difficult time. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Lorraine’s name to the American Cancer Society.
