Steven Alex Arnold Obituary (Age 67) Went to be with the Lord Jesus his Savior unexpectedly in his home on January 4, 2013. Steve was born on July 9, 1945 in Portsmouth, VA, to George Jack Arnold and Virginia (Helvey) Arnold. He graduated from high school in 1963 and was drafted into the Army in 1965 where he served his country in the Viet Nam conflict. In 1968, he and his twin brother, Larry, married Mueller sisters, Jeanette and Linda, of Saint Maries, Idaho. Returning to Washington, he earned an Associate?s Degree from Green River College, a Bachelor?s Degree from Eastern Washington University, and a Master?s Degree from Whitworth College. After 32 years of teaching at Cheney High School, he retired in 2004. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Virginia Arnold, and by his first wife of 33 years, Jeanette Louise (Mueller) Arnold following her 13-year battle with ovarian cancer. In June of 2007, he married Marie LaBenne of Canton, MI. He is survived by his wife, Marie; his siblings, Jack, Larry, Danny and Amanda; his children, Jennifer, Andrew, and Shawn; his stepchildren Sherri and Kristen; and his eight grandchildren. Steve enjoyed playing accordion and guitar. He passionately enjoyed hunting and fishing, and mastered the art and science of wood working. Steve was a beloved husband, loyal brother, caring father, and devoted friend. Above all, Steve loved the Lord Jesus Christ, whom he served for nearly 50 years until he was called home. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, January 11, at Heritage Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at Spokane Memorial Gardens.
