October 15, 1942 - December 19, 2008

Steven Craig Smith Obituary Went home to Jesus, true to form, during the biggest snowstorm on record, December 19, 2008. Heaven has gained a great poet and guitar player. Steve was born October 15, 1942, the second son of Otto and Margaret (Pink) Smith, in Everett, WA. He graduated from Everett High School in 1961 and from Washington State University in 1966. Steve married Rachel Patterson in 1964 and they had three children. He married Lavada Jean (Jeannie) Kissack in 1974, gaining four sons. Steve and Jeannie had two children. Steve possessed a lifelong love of sports, especially baseball. His playing career spanned from one of the northwests first Little League teams in Kirkland to the Washington State high school All Star Baseball team of 1961. He then coached Little League and Babe Ruth teams in Vancouver and Anacortes for years. Steve went to work for the Washington Water Power in 1983, worked his way up to power house operator, and retired from the Long Lake and Little Falls Dams after his cancer diagnosis in July 2007. He felt that his fellow Avista workers were the greatest guys in the world. Steves other loves included music and farming, especially cattle, advising us all that, if there are cows in heaven, look for me there. Steve is preceded in death by his father, Otto (1994) brother Michael, (1986) and beloved oldest daughter, Shelly Alene Smith (1993). Steve is survived by his wife Jeannie in Cheney, his mother Margaret (Pink) Smith, and his sister Cris (Shannon) Kollmeyer all in Chelan.
