September 17, 1931 - May 28, 2015

Susan Arvilla (Emery) Herrmann Obituary Susan was born on September 17, 1931, in Spokane, WA and never moved far from her childhood home. She passed away May 28, 2015. Raising eight successful children left little time for herself. Surrounded by family, she enjoyed the pleasure of being a mother, choosing to take care of her home. Mom loved company, polite conversation, and never finding fault with anyone. She enjoyed wearing her brightly colored bling jewelry, working crossword puzzles, collecting little trinkets, and personalizing cards and gifts with special stickers. Flower gardens decorated with lawn art were always special to her. She enjoyed watching the deer, squirrels, and birds eat the fruit off the trees. Susan is survived by her children, Pat Samford (Sam) Deer Park; Rick Herrmann, Kent, WA; Connie Herrmann-McCully (Dennis), Spokane; Martha Groo (Gene), Spokane Valley; Donna Foucault (Paul), Chewelah,; Terry Phillips (Ron), Spokane Valley; Scott Herrmann, Alaska; Peggy Altman (John), Cincinnati, OH; sister Gracie Haney, Albertville AL; and many, many special grand, great-grand, and great-great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death was her husband, Richard Herrmann; mother Susan, father Harold, and sister Nesta Nex. A private family celebration of life will be conducted at a later date at Greenwood Memorial Park. Thank you to the Hospice of Spokane and Providence Visiting Nurses. An extra special thanks to our sister Connie and husband Dennis for all the care mom received. Without it, she would not have been able to remain at home all these years.
