Talmage "Tal" J. Richardson Obituary

Passed away September 22, 2009 in Spokane, WA after a long battle with cancer. Tal was one of seven children and was born on November 15, 1920 in Pyatt, Arkansas to Anna and Ross Richardson. Tal served his country in World War II as a member of the United States Army, 2nd Armored Division. He began his military service in North Africa, then Sicily, landed at Omaha Beach, Normandy, then to the "Battle of the Bulge" in Belgium and was among the first Americans to liberate Berlin. After the war, Tal married his life companion of 62 years Bonnie Smith and they moved to Yakima, WA, then to Mountain View, California and finally to Spokane. Tal worked for 45 years as an automobile mechanic; 31 of those years with Oldsmobile in Mountain View, California. Bonnie and Tal had one son, Dr. Calvin Richardson, DMD, who preceded them in death. Tal, also known as "papa" is survived by his wife Bonnie Richardson of Spokane, WA; granddaughter Lynette Butterfield (husband Mike); great-grandchildren Matthew and Allison Butterfield also of Spokane and numerous nieces and nephews. Additionally he is survived by his daughter-in-law Connie Bush (husband Tom) of Spokane; and their son Mike Bush (wife Dani) of Puyallup, WA. The family would like to thank all of the friends and neighbors who have supported us throughout this journey. We truly appreciate all that you have done. Tal will be forever remembered and missed by family, friends and all who knew him. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, September 25, 2009 at 2:00 pm at Hamblen Park Presbyterian Church. The family requests that if anyone wishes to, they may make a memorial donation in Tal's name to Hospice of Spokane or the Southside Senior Center.
