30-Jun-16

Terry S. McMahon Obituary (Age 66) Terry Scott McMahon died painlessly of a heart attack in the early morning hours of June 30th. He is survived by Polly, his childhood sweetheart and wife of 43 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Eva and Frank McMahon, and two infant children, Erik and Amy. Terry?s early years were spent in Michigan where he met his future wife at age seven when he and Polly were participating in a children?s music festival. Polly and Terry spent their high school years at the Interlochen Arts Academy where music continued to sustain their lives. Terry attended the University of Michigan and the University of Nevada Las Vegas. He sang in the University of Michigan men?s glee club and in the San Francisco opera chorus. Terry and Polly were married at Seal Rock in San Francisco in the Bay Area where Polly attended graduate school. Terry was a well-known funeral singer in the Bay area and he also worked at the US Public Health Service Hospital where he coordinated audio visual productions in the training department. He was a member of the Army National Guard and sang in the Army General?s Chorus for the entire Bay Area. Always excited by technology and inventions, Terry was a ham radio operator at age twelve and worked as a computer and AV consultant on many projects throughout his life. He was an early developer of holograms and created the first hologram with Georgia Governor George Busbee. Terry had a lifelong passion for Apple computers and was one of the first developers of using Apple computers to assist in Polly?s early clinical practice with learning disabled and traumatized children. For the last 20 years Terry and Polly made their home in Spokane where Polly is employed at Spokane Falls Community College. Terry embraced the fundraising need for the Community Colleges Foundation and with the support from Anthony?s Restaurant, Down River Grill and Northern Quest Casino he delighted in helping provide resources for students at the community colleges. Any memorial gifts are requested to be donated to the Scholarship Fund of Terry and Polly McMahon at the Community Colleges of Spokane. Even $5.00 can make a big difference in the life of a student. To make such a gift please contact Jesse Zumbro at (509) 434-5128 or jesse.zumbro@ccs.spokane.edu. A memorial tribute and celebration for Terry will be held at a later date and coordinated with the clergy at the Episcopal Cathedral of St John the Evangelist and the staff at Down River Grill who sustained Terry with many meals and great humor. Terry?s laughter, his silly jokes, and his tender spirit will be forever missed. His last words were ones of love to help us all remember him.
