Teruko Maruyama Obituary (Age 93) Passed away Dec. 23, 2010 in Spokane where she has lived for 55 years. She was born in Medford, OR and at the age of 12 she was shot in her back by a neighbor boy and was paralyzed in her legs and confined to a wheelchair for life. The Medford educational system had a teacher come to her home and she graduated as a high school student. After 3 years in Japanese internment camps she settled in Spokane with her mother and younger brother Saburo and lived out her life here in Spokane. She is survived by her brother Yoshio "Fred" Maruyama, with whom she lived and various relatives, nieces and nephews. She will be cremated and buried with her parents at Greenwood Memorial Terrace in the spring with Rev. Kevin Dow of Highland Park United Methodist Church officiating. The family thanks Sunshine Health Facilities and Rev. Dow.
