Thomas Michael Orth Obituary Sgt. Thomas Michael Tom Orth died peacefully in his sleep the morning of January 30, 2018 at the age of 59. Tom was born in Spokane, WA on January 31, 1958, the eldest son of Thomas J. Tom Orth and Margaret L. Peggy Moore Orth. Toms 25-year career with the Department of Corrections was an accomplishment he wore with pride. He was an amazing, respected sergeant, co-worker, supervisor and friend to all his brothers and sisters in blue. Tom was recognized as the State of Washington D.O.C. Supervisor of the year in 2013. Tom was a life-long union member with Bakers Local 9 and Teamsters 117. He believed in organized labor and worker protection. An avid sportsman, Tom was the first student to letter in all three sports of baseball, football and track at St. Thomas More. He lettered in cross-country at North Central High School and attended S.F.C.C. His father and he coached baseball for St. Thomas More, leading them to a Spokane City championship. Tom also played semi-pro football for a Christian Organization in Seattle. He loved his Seahawks, snow/water skiing and golfing with his brothers. He is survived by his beloved wife, Kimberly K. Kim Orth; children, Joshua Michael Josh (Sarai) Orth and Tonya N. Wise; grandchildren, Gabriel, Italia, Christian and Roman; mother, Peggy Orth; siblings, Terri Ann (Dan) Chott, Jerry (Therese) Orth, Michele (Tim) Peterson, Monica (Floyd) Larson, Timothy E. Tim Orth; many nieces and nephews; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Tom Orth and many dear aunts, uncles and his grandparents. A funeral will be held at Heritage Funeral Home on Monday, February 5, 2018 at 1pm followed by a graveside service at Greenwood Memorial Terrace. There will be a private family viewing.
