Tommy Lee Fletcher

October 14, 1928 - August 19, 2018

Tommy Lee Fletcher Obituary Tommy Lee Fletcher, devoted husband, strong father, loving grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to many departed this earthly life on August 19, 2018. (Four scores and nine years is what he would have said.) Tommy was born October 14, 1928 in Wilmar, Arkansas to Doby and Inez (Carr) Fletcher. He moved to Spokane in the 1940?s looking for a better life and work. There he met and married his soulmate and the love of his life, Jessie M. Scody in 1951. Together they raised Tommy, Geneva, Bobby, Susan and their grandson, Eric, along with numerous foster children for over thirty years. Tommy provided for his family and worked hard in the Freight Companies for twenty-six years and later retired from Safeway in 1990. He was honored to be a member of the Teamster?s Local 690 and the Inland Northwest Wildlife Council. Morning Star Baptist Church was his home church for fifty years where he served on the Trustee Board. He was especially proud of the property assets that the church acquired under his leadership. Before his health failed him, he attended New Hope Baptist Church, Pastor Emeritus Happy Watkins. Over the years, Tommy developed several hobbies that included fishing, hunting, camping, gardening and butchering meats. He was proud to show off his prized possession, the black bear rug. When he wasn?t watching cowboy movies, he was busy making summer sausage or canning vegetables from his garden. After his wife passed away Tommy looked for new ways to accompany his time and he began going to the East Central Community Center. He developed many new friendships and enjoyed the activities and outings. He taught all of us how to play his favorite card game, King?s on the Corner and The Rich Little Piggies. Tommy loved his family and treasured family reunions and celebrations. During the holidays, everyone gathered in the living room and he led us in prayer thanking and praising the Lord for His many blessings. His wisdom, generous heart and strong sense of family will be greatly missed.
